Sony DRU500A (2.0f) problems with tray not closing correctly

It's the only problem I have so far with my DRU 500A. Sometimes when I press the button to close the tray it reaches halfway and stops. It doesn't close. I have to eject and close tray again for the tray to fully close.
Is there something wrong? Is this the beginning of end of my 6 month old burner?

Have you tried returing to an older firmware and see if it still happens?

If it doesn't maybe it was a corrupt firmware file or update. Try downloading a new firmware file and do it again.

You did remember to put it in PIO mode for the firmware update, right?

Well I have downgraded and upgraded the firmware a couple times to check compatibility with cheap 4X speed media. The trouble is that this doesn't occur all the times, sometimes only.

Looks more like a mechanical problem to me: the switch that tells your burner that the tray has been closed is probably letting you down.
