 Hi out there,
I've converted JPEGs into MPEGs with VCDEasy 1.1.5.2 in order to view them on the TV in the form of an (S)VCD. Nero 5.5.10.42, however, rejects them for lack of conformity with both the VCD and SVCD standards. I tried burning MPEG-1s as VCD, I tried MPEG-2s as SVCD, I tried high and low resolution in VCDEasy, I tried with and without VCDEasy's anti-flickering, and so on, and so forth. Any idea? Anybody ready to help a rookie? Thx a million.

I didn't say why I didn't use VCDEasy's burning tool: I can't because it won't accept my Freecom firewire combo drive whereas Nero does.

Hello,

I see two ways that might solve your problems :

1. Try switching the burner driver in VCDEasy for CDRDAO (the burning tool in VCDEasy). My Yamaha Burner wasn't recognized, I put something like "generic" for the driver, checked the boxes "allow overburn", "force burning" and so on and it worked. You might have to install the correct ASPI drivers though.

2. If you don't want to mess with it, just go one step further with VCDEasy : build images. You'll end up with a BIN/CUE file containing all your MPEGS, and then in NERO just do "File/Burn image", open the CUE file and burn.

Hope this helps,
Djidjo

CDRDAO cannot burn to external drives.

Nero does not know how to accept MPEG still images so don't bother trying.

What you need to do is to use VCDEasy to make the image of your VCD. You can use it to first encode the MPEG stills. Now, import them over to your project.

Have VCDEasy create a CUE/BIN image of your S/VCD but to not burn it.

Then, as long as you have an updated version of Nero, select Nero to burn an image, and then choose the CUE file. The updated versions of Nero can burn CUE/BIN images properly (mostly).

Regards.

Know what kind of mistake I made from the very beginning? I thought I had to create still MPEGs and then burn them. I just realized, at long last, I don't have to create still MPEG's since Nero does the job for me anyway: I dragged&dropped JPEG's into Nero Express's VCD window, and they were then automatically converted and burned, and my stand-alone player plays them on the TV. That's all I'd wanted.
