Newbie Sync problem

Hi,

It's the first time that I try to rip a dvd with GK and I must have done something wrong because with the both cd's the sound is about 2 seconds to early.
I followed the doom9 guide for GK and DivX 5 so I don't really know what went wrong.
Normally I have all the logs on my HD but I don't knwo wht you guys will need (very newbie).
I hope someone will help me out because I really like to learn more about this :)

First step:

Look for the file <movie>_Gknot.log, and copy/paste it in this thread.

That log file may help narrow down the problem.

It looks like Gknot was doing what you asked: muxing a pre-made mp3 audio track (at approximately 128kbps) with 0 delay (which Gknot gets from the file name).

What process was used to create the .mp3 file?

If you've done other movies since then and not had the problem, then it may just be something peculiar to this particular movie. But it's easy enough to fix. Open the .avi in Nandub (and not Virtual Dub), and set Video to Direct Stream Copy. Then go Audio-Interleaving. You said the audio was playing 2 seconds early, so for starters set the Audio Delay (Audio Skew Correction) to 2000 ms. Then go File-Save As AVI and give it a different name (if the original is movie.avi, then the new one may be movie2.avi). Then check it out and adjust a bit for the second try. It may take 3 or 4 tries to get it right. It's easier to fix if you can cue on a sharp sound, such as a gunshot, rather than people talking. After you fix the first .avi, then use the same settings for the second one.

And I hope you didn't adjust the sample rate when creating the audio, as that can cause asynch.

If the same problem happens over several different movies, then perhaps the process was screwed up somehow, and you should answer jggimi's question. Or maybe let GKnot/BeSweet handle the audio.
