(hope this post belongs here..??)
Seems i'm encountering this problem with my Columbia/Tristar movies/DVD's. I'm trying to backup my copy of "Basic" w/Travolta...
After transcoding the entire disc with Instant Copy (less some languages and subs), I insert end product DVD-R (with menus, movie and extras) into my DVD player and firs get the studio logo, then the main menu---which is fine so far.. BUT then, from the main menu, i hit 'Play Movie' and here's what happens:
1. all applicable warnings play consecutively--ok
2. then, in English, "..opinions expressed do not represent..blah..blah.." plays---BUT keeps playing over and over and over and over..... :) (on the original DVD, i found that the French version of #2 above plays right after the English version, i.e., "..les opinions l'expresse ne..blah..blah.."..
Well, originally, i had stripped the French subs --> so i thought the English script that kept playing over and over (just before the French script came on) was somehow 'linked' to the French version of the same script and in turn 'linked' to the French subs that i stripped, creating a 'flawed' file structure after transcoding with IC7.. So i re-attempted the whole project, but this time kept the French subs... no luck.. still get the repeating English script of "..opinions expressed.." over and over..
i opened up IFOedit.95 on all the original IFO files and found something pretty strange.. IFOedit tells me that VTS_01 is the main movie (~1hr35min) and that VTS_04 contains 6 PGC's, each a movie preview.. BUT...
When i actually look at the ripped movie files on my hard drive, the main movie files are NOT VTS_01--they are VTS_04 (VTS_04_1 thru VTS_04_??), totaling ~4-5G... and the previews reside in various other title sets.. ???
Can someone advise?? I had this SAME problem with Tears of the Sun, also a Col/Tristar dvd... Thanks much
Edit: Forgot to mention that IFOedit couldn't play the DVD in its 'built-in' DVD player.. ?? kept crashing.. ??
