Due to an unfortunate situation with the forum owner, I will no longer be visiting this forum. Interested parties can follow my work through my website:

http://shelob.mordor.net/dgraft/

It has been a pleasure working with you all. I will be happy to maintain communications with you and still welcome all inquiries/reports:

Oh no, what's going on? This must be some kind of very late first April hoax!?

This is indeed very unfortunate. Your posts were one of the main reasons I've continued visiting this forum. Is there no way this issue can be resolved without abandoning the forum and in a sense the community as well?

@neuron2

if you have problems with doom9 have you been ordered to leave ? i can't really imagine that so why you don't stay for all people who need you :(. And to everyone who thinks neuron2 should stay say a word now, i can imagine what happened but looseing your moderator rights shouldn't be a reason for you to leave you are still a respected person in this community and leaveing would hurt everyone in this community so please rethink your decission.
Whatever your final decission will be i wish you all the best.

What in the world happened?!?!? Donald you are one of the major reasons I visit this forum still. If there is any way this could be resolved peacefully that would be in the best interest of the community. Right???

Can someone enlighten us? I respectfully feel we deserve an answer from Doom9 regarding this situation.

CruNcher: No need to start speculating, and starting off false rumors. It was Donalds own choice to leave - it hasn't been forced upon him.

This thread is heavily off-topic for this forum - I'm leaving it here in respect to Donald - but if you use this thread to start unfounded rumors, I will close it immediately!

And yes - I would also wish for a good solution to this - for now I just hope that things cool down a bit.

I respectfully feel we deserve an answer from Doom9 regarding this situation.Well, as Neuron2 has honored the code of silence and has not discussed internal details, I shall do the same. Which means I cannot tell you what has been going on behind the scenes and I feel that it's in everyone's best interest to keep it that way.

Do heed sh0dan's warning though, he knows the details and as he said, nobody appreciates speculations at this point.

@sh0dan & doom9

sorry it wasn't my intention to spread rumors across here :( .
I think it's in humans nature to find out whats the reason behind a
given situation, but if both sides agreed to keept silence about it
then i don't bother anymore, but still hopeing neuron2 rethinks his
decission to leave.

Donald -

I hope you decide to reconsider, even if you don't choose to be a mod anymore. This is still one of the best places to swap ideas on video filters and find a huge group of users and happy test subjects.

If you still decide to go you will be sorely missed. :(

@neuron2: I feel very sad to hear that too. :( Who wouldn't? You have helped this community so much. Be sure that I'll check every new version of your Avisynth filters through your website, and that I'll bother you every time I find anything which "I think" is a bug. :) But a board like this one was IMHO the best way to do these bug reports/filter improvements. I hope the situation is not that bad so that you could change your mind in the future...
Anyway, thanks for everything!

Really sorry to hear this. Neuron2 has helped me and many others here countless times. Totally respect both of your decisions to keep it private but please reconsider and work this out. After all, this isn't a business (although of course maintaining a site such as this might as well be one). This is a hobby site for people into dvd ripping and video capturing/encoding. It's hard to picture what situation would arise that would result in a situtation such as this, but yes, no speculation being offered here.

On a side note, the only reason I started using avisynth was due to frustration with vdubs limited ivtc. Because of reading about Neuron2's ivtc plugin and how effective it is, I decided to learn avisynth and becaome a regular here and I am very glad I did.

I really hope you both can come to some solution.

If this is final, neuron2, maybe you could consider putting up a forum on your site regarding your plugins(maybe there is one never noticed it). Because if people in the furture just email you for help, other people do not benefit from that information, and I'm sure you'll end up repeating issues several times.

Wow, really sorry to hear this, donald's contribution here was more than great...anyway, the lack of an "official" explanation will lead to rumours, happens anywhere, anytime.

Well my forum subscriptions are low (=1 ) and my input limited but i was visiting http://shelob.mordor.net/dgraft/ for vdub filters longer than xvid and avisynth have been around. The one true reason why i visit this forum is for the wealth of knowledge and intelligence in it and i would have to rate Donald 10 of 10. Well we do not have to discuss reasons why but what I'd like to say ........... there appears to be a difference of opinion ........... i really feel that the best thing for all of this community is to solve the differences in a mature and respectful manner. You can fight with your wife but your still friends and the rest of the world can be the same.

Here is to all the good old boys being men.

Peace

I'm sure this was a tough decision, neuron2.

As a moderator, you probably loved at least as much this community as a lot of us here, or else you wouldn't have accepted that responsibility. One must have a passion for the community to do that.

As a developer, you were both sharing and learning knowledge: I bet you never had such weird samples to investigate as the ones the guys here have shared with you :) .Both you and us were benefiting from it.

I know you've spent a lot of time working on decombing filters and I know (or hope :D ) that this passion doesn't leave your heart and mind easily. So we hope to be able to continue sharing knowledge and samples with you so we all can improve.

The best way for sharing is still a forum: people learn from other's problems. For good or bad, you're making History here.

A very important part of the Avisynth usage and development process is decombing (your filters being the most part) and it will leave Doom9, which means the Avisynth community will stop being entirely focused in this forum. It doesn't mean splitting the community, but it is important to redirect new members for the right forum.

I think you need to implement a forum structure at your site or at least at avisynth.org .

It's not necessarily a concept of "forum for Doom9 developer refugees" if implemented a generic forum at avisynth.org, but it's perfectly legitimate that the Avisynth project have different opinions, goals and perspectives than Doom9.

And not all developers are willing to make their own forum, some may quit, and their source code is not necessarily their entire knowledge.

I hope to continue working with you, the sooner the better :)

At some point I did some mistakes and neuron2 intervened the best way possible. I guess living through some misunderstandings or differences doesn't mean one should quit from knowledge sharing and arguing if it feels like it (isn't it the reason of this and all forums?) . The forum looses a good moderator and as already said a talented programer.

Respects to doom9 and neuron2.

Congrats on a long run of insightful posting, respectful moderating, and invaluable coding.

I think you need to implement a forum structure at your site or at least at avisynth.org .
We have one, merely dormant (on purpose) since Doom9's creation of the AVS developer forum. I honestly don't see a reason to revive it at this point, but it remains a possibility.

neuron2,

Thank you so much for using you're substantial knowledge and ability to enhance the tools we use daily. I haven't had to post very much, because you have made every effort to give detailed info here at doom9. I will continue to peek in on your journal at your site. You're insights will be missed here at doom9.

All I can say is "Thank You, Donald" and "Thank You, Doom9". Both of you guys are generous and I for one am greatful.

I hope that whatever the issue is, it can be resolved and the community can be whole again.

Again...Thanks Donald, you will be missed, and of course Thanks Doom9 for this great community.

Later,

This is really a severe loss. I learned a lot from the source code of his filters and I am using some of them. I oppose to close the thread if only a few conjectures are made about his leave. That is not freedom of speech.

As far as I know, this forum allows freedom of expression, but not freedom of speech.

Common guys, this is plain stupid! Adults behaving like spoiled kids; behind the curtain what a change! Always thought we had commucationally skilled people here  (which we infact do btw).

No, you two don't owe us anything. But what about yourself?

The solution? Start forgiving yourself for what _YOU_ allowed others to do to you - no there is no typo in this. And then put your [obscenity] heads together AND SORT IT OUT.

Both of you must want to keep this forum wothwhile place, and if so, you just cannot your backs at each other, and say: 'Hell, I don't care.' You will have to _DO_ something for it

Ah damn it.

This is the AviSynth forum - and now this thread hasn't even got anything to do with neuron.

Thread closed.
