im not sure im actually smart enough to post in this section but since I want to not hog too much with two seperate posts and this IS a developement section here goes
Ive noticed that after purusing over the log files generated by both of these codecs durring the first pass of a two pass set, that they display just simple data about the frames/ types/ bitrates and quality algorithm(i think). I was wonder WHY this cant be made in the first pass only setting. Since both divx and xvid(although it may need a little tweeking to do so in either i guess) offer the option for first passes, why can you not make it so that the log will generate as if you did a multipass 1st pass?
this would save time. Especially for those who like to edit the stats files of either codec. Since DIVX NEEDS a rendered second pass avi to use its log file editor(ive never been able to succesfully trick that program) and i think Xvid does the same way.

maybe this post should be linked to from the divx and xvid sites but ill leave it to the mods to decide that.**
