subtitles with more IDs ??????

Hi there, I searched all the forum to find a solution for my issue without luck, allthough I think I found it here several months ago when I had the same problem with another movie.
I try to backup Spiderman DVD region 2. I don't like menus so I use Ifoedit movie only strip method.
What's the problem? There are subtitles which have 2 IDs for every subtitle language (english 0x21 and 0x22 and czech 0x25 and 0x26).
I found up that in this movie the first subtitle IDs are alot smaller then the second are (150k/2.5M).
When I strip it with both IDs then in WinDVD are listed both and only if you select second then the subtitles shows up. I'm not sure what for are the first IDs, do have somebody a glue???
Today I will try to strip it without the first subtitle ID, and we will see if it works without them.
But I am sure in the past I did a backup from movie which had also 2 ID for subtitles and because it was half and half subtitles in each sup file I had to rip it some how to one file, but I can't remember it now :(

You have one set of subtitles for letterboxed viewing and one set for wide screen. Otherwise you're subtitles would fall of the screen.

I can't imagine than there can be such big difference in size between the two "styles", are you sure? or you didn't see my sentence about the size?
And there is the other movie where in the first ID was first half of subtitles and the rest in other ID.

There's always a difference in size in these kind of situations I don't know why. But I always use the biggest subs anyway

You answered while I was editing the previous post.
So what about the other movie? where in the first ID was first half of subtitles and the rest in other ID.

Subtitles cannot fall off the screen, they are not resized along with the video, but use their own 720x480 or 720x576 window mixed with the video after it is resized. The reason for different streams for different display modes is placement. For auto-letterboxing, it's nice to use the black area below the picture.

In answer to the original question: Yes, that's a huge difference. Most probably the small one is a menu or button-over-video stream.

I can imagine it, I tried it with only the bigger subs and everything seems be O.K.
But I don't know if I loosed something, is there any posibility to see what subtitles in the sup file are?

Again to the second part of my question. I thing that the movie with "striped" subtitles was "You've got mail".
I can't remember, but I think the IDs are under one subtitle set so you couldn't select both IDs because you saw only one language check box, and ifoedit couldn't stripe it correctly. It took only one of the IDs and after half movie there were no subtitles.
So I thing is diferent situation, but allthough I would like to know how I ripped the subtitle with both IDs, because Ifoedit can't do it.
