this question relates to Virtualdub 1.4.13 and virtualdub_sync 1.4.13
My systems spec
PIII 933 using Intel 820 chipset motherboard
512MB SDRAM
20GB Hard drive as primary master
40GB hard drive as primary slave
80GB hard drive as secondary slave
all these are running off a UDMA 66 controller.
SB Live! Platinum (I'm plugged into line in on the back of the card rather than the front Line in off the extra connection panel.)
Video buffers 10
Audio buffer 4
audio buffer size 36000
for Virtual dub I have 'Lock video stream to audio' checked.
now my question is this. it seems to me that after thinking about it, if I lock video stream to audio, then surely this would cancel out the benefit of running virtualdub_sync because the two are contradictory.
one locks video to audio
the other adjusts audio to video.
so, if my thinking follows I should switch off lock Video stream to audio and rely on virtualdub_sync to sort it out.
one other questions is this. If I increase audio buffers, do I see a benefit? is there an optimum number of buffers you can have, ie too many makes no difference or impacts on performance, or are we free to see as many as we like? as this confuses me somewhat.
any help on the lock question would be interesting. also, if I just increase the buffers to something insane like
vid buffers 100
audio buffers 16
what impact would this have if any?
TIA
