Failure of Ifoedit or me?

I can't get Ifoedit to properly split some dvds which have multiple
(sometimes as many as 30 or more) pgc's and a lot of vobid's where the various vobid's are interspersed among all those pgc's making it impossible to strip vobid's without removing needed sections of some pgc's.

All that's left is not stripping vobids and just splitting the vts,
but no matter where I pick a split point, I always end up with one of the two discs being too large.

I've searched this forum and the guides, but have not found a method to do this.

I am NOT interested in "transcoding", recompressing, or anything like that which I consider to be of poor quality and will not use. I want to keep the original bit rate of the original dvd.

I also want to keep all the original menus and extras, especially the
chapter selection menu, trailers, and any "making of the movie" documentaries.

I've tried splitting each pgc by using dvddecrypter to rip each pgc two times and picking
the chapters and/or cells to keep in each of the two rips to create
a vts set of the right size and that does create vts sets of the right sizes with a lot of trial and error, but the problem there is that this method does not create the .ifo files for any of these new vts sets and the video_ts.ifo files to go along with all these new vts sets. And, of course, the original .ifo files won't work with these new sets, so I'm left with no .ifo files I can use to properly point to the new vts sets and to the menu vobs so they too will work.

Is this an unsurmountable problem with some dvds?

If I missed some answers to these problems already posted somewhere, please point me to them.

I guess you could fire up dvdfab and find the split point in there and then use the same split point in ifoedit. Dvdfab gives estimated disc sizes before you take all the time of splitting it.
