Can we just cut and paste vobs into one big movie without re-encoding?

Hello,

I have a DVD movie that i want to add some 'deleted scenes' to the movie. What it means is, i wanna insert some random vobs files into a main movie vobs and then, reauthor them to have a new set of vobs. All that, without reencoding the movie, just direct stream them. Is that possible or we MUST recode the whole thing?

I'm afraid it doesn't work that way. While you don't need to re-encode the video, moving pieces around isn't a cut and paste operation. First of all, the file structure is unrelated to the movie structure (cells, programs, and chapters), although having the pieces rearranged to flow from one to the next will make the result seamless. Doing that, though, requires the VobIDs and CellIds to be reassigned, as they need to always be incrementing. Finally you will need to change the PGC to reflect all these changes.

You could just change the PGC, adding in the deleted scenes by inserting cells (you'll need to know the Vob/Cell ID of each deleted scene), but that will pause as the player seeks to the scene.

I wouldn't mind if the player have to pause to seek for the scene. What tool could I use to change/edit the PGC and make it play the movie and jump to deleted scenes (on standalone vobs) back and forth?

Try using DvdReMake Pro. There are several ways to do what you want. For example, insert blank cells everywhere you want new episodes inserted (Select needed PGC in DVD Tree, right click on needed program and "insert block"). You can also use split block if new episode should go in the middle of existing block. Then copy needed episodes from source disks (import disk with episodes, select VTS of interest, select needed blocks (in Domain Content pane) and "Ctrl+C") and paste into disk you edit(select needed VTS in DVD Tree, select blanks to be repaced and "Ctrl+V", make sure that same amount is selected for copy and paste). Export, enjoy.

DvdReMake does not do any reencoding, all menus (like chapter selection) will be preserved as well and will point to where they should.

Before doing it make sure that audio/sub streams are the same in source and destination PGCs.

As MPUCoder said there may be non smooth playback.
