Hi everybody!!!:)
This is my first post;I'm new to all this ripping stuff, so my questions may seem to you silly, but I searched everywhere in the forum and I couldn't find a satisfying answer.
I ripped my "Along Came A Spider" PAL R2 with DVDDecrypter 3.1.6.0 in IFO mode keeping the movie,two languages and subtitles.Then I created new IFO files with IFOEdit 0.95 (I prefer this way 'cause it's faster than ripping in File mode and extracting VOB IDs with IFOEdit).Then I:
- pasted subtitles colours into new VTS_01_0.IFO
- deleted an extra chapter(program) in VTS_PGCITI:infact the chapter which lays in correspondance of the layer break is split in two cells, on for each layer(I suppose).So IFOEdit creates a chapter also for the second cell(and I obviously don't want it)
- corrected the number of chapters in VMG_PTT_SRPT
- specified Italian or English for Audio and Subtitles streams both in VIDEO.TS.IFO and in VTS_01_0.IFO
- clicked on "Get VTS sectors"
When I click on "DVD play" this warning message pops up:
*No valid DVD volume could be located
Do you still want to continue?Yes/No
If I click on Yes the movie and all the options I kept work perfectly(it works also on PowerDVD).
Did I miss anything?What's wrong?Is it going to work on a standalone? (I haven't bought a DVDwriter yet so I can't try).Please help me!!!

It might work, there's only one way to find out unfortunately. From my experiences though, when my movies wouldn't play in Windvd, they wouldn't play on my standalone. But, everybody's standalone is different I suppose. Also, I don't know if it is the same in Powerdvd, but in Windvd you have to load the movie from a folder, and the folder must be named VIDEO_TS or windvd won't play the movie either.

Sorry, maybe my explanation wasn't clear:the warning message pops up when I use DVD play in IFOEdit, I have no problem with PowerDVD.
I'm not sure that my backup will work on a standalone, since I read in a lot of posts that even if you can watch a movie on your PC, you could have problems on a settop player because of the differences between the 2 devices (and the warning message make me think so).
I forgot also to say that sometimes the message doesn't appear.Why?:confused:

I would rely more on Powerdvd than ifoedit. If it works in Powerdvd you're probably safe. Seems like a lot of people (including myself) have had problems with the dvd play in ifoedit.

I think the answer your looking for is that when Ifoedit looks for a dvd in your drive and if it doesn't find one it displays that dialog box. If there is one in your drive it will continue to play your file without the message. If ifoedit plays the files with no problems, chances are it will play fine in your standalone. ***Always test on a +/-rw first just to be safe.***

Thanks both to Josh and Steelo, I think I've solved my problem.
Steelo, you're right!I tried to click on DVD play with or without a DVD inserted in my drive and the message pops up only when the drive is empty! I never paid attention to that because I didn't think IFOEdit could be related to DVDs inserted in the drive.
Now I think my backup will work on a standalone (at least I hope!)

Oh yes... that makes so much more sense! Good one Steelo. I think the option you want to choose for watching the movie or certain vobs on your hard drive is Preview... but I would always rely on powerdvd and windvd for testing your movies, and trying a rw like Steelo said if you're unsure if it will work or not.

I tried it,and in my opinion DVD play is better: no problems with it nor with static preview (double click on channels in vts overview).But when I use preview the movie is in English (the second language on my DVD) and a couple of chapters don't work properly.
