View Full Version : Urgent: DVD conversion NTSC-> PAL

Hi all,
I need to convert some dvds purchased in the states. do not mean just region-free, but a real conversion.
Kinda doubt it can be done without reconverting all vobs, but question is:
ANY software can do that without playing around with different proggies?
Would need to back up the whole dvd (just ripping off extra lang tracks), and make it PAL compatible.

Well there is no 1 click progam that could do it for you. To get it to go to PAL you would have to encode the video and none of the 1 click programs do that. You would have to use CCE or TMP with avisynth ot get that to go. I am sure that you can find some guied on the net with a litte searching to get what you are looking for. Just so you know this will take a LONG time to do and some knowledge about DVD authoring and so forth.

There are several threads about this, and none are "one-click". You will need several tools, and patience. Here is one good thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45566)

In the end, it's simpler to get multi-standard equipment (common in Europe) or watch on a computer.

was kinda sure there was no easy way to get things done.
Problem is I would need this conversion b/c of different stand-alone dvds..not a problem. Tmpeg or whatever re-conversion tools needs too much time, not to talk about re-syinc audio between NTSC and PAL.

I believe that the best way to deal with this is Canopus Procoder v.1.25 or later...
We bought this program for this sole purpose. Transcoding from PAL to NTSC and vice versa...
It's very easy to use and you don't need to sync the audio...
The audio remains synced, because the duration remains exactly the same...
I have authored (i work in a DVD-authoring house) about 4 DVD's that they were transcoded from PAL to NTSC and i didn't have any problems...
Everything worked great...Yet i still believe that this program is still VERY expensive, considering what it does...
