3CD Encode: CD3 too small

this has probably been answered multiple times. i've searched the forums, but haven't seen a really straight forward answer.

i know it has to do with the bitrate settings, but not exactly sure what values to put. to be a little more specific with the problem:

i have a 114min movie, using 3 800MB CDs (defaulted to 2 CDs). i'm using one audio stream at 224kbps. everything else is kept default (Max:2530 / Min:300 / Max avg:2230 / Checked "Warn if...")

whenever i encoded with these settings, CD1 and CD2 are all filled, while CD3 is far from being filled. what settings do i have to put to have all 3 CDs filled?

if anyone can tell me the answer, or direct me to a thread that gives a straigh-forward answer, that would be great. thanks.

svcd can only handle so much bitrate, I dunno exactly what it is, but it is around 2800 total, now I assume you mean 800 MB so 90 minute cd's? if so, for a 3cd that would mean an avg bitrate of 3060 kbit/s which clearly puts ya over the limit. for a 2cd the min/avg/max would be something like 0/1959/2496 w/ 224 audio, that would be a decent lookin svcd if encoded with VBR I think.

oh, my mistake. a typo. i'm using 700MB CDRs. what would the preferred values be for that? thanks again.

Try a search on too small or bin/cue too small.

On the BitRate Tab set the CD size to 800 from the dropdown for all the rows. Your Window should look like

0 to 76 CD1 800
50 to 125 CD2 800

If you make these changes, you will get 2 CDs completely filled. For now you have to re-encode to fit the movie in 2 CDs.

This window tell the D2S that if the movie is less than 76 mins use CD1 and the size of the CD is 80 min (700MB) if the movie is bigger than 76 min use 2 CDs as it will fall in the 50 to 125 min (Which is your case).
