I've had a look thru the forum to see if anyone's asked this already, but I haven't found it - I apologise if it's there somewhere.
I bought a PC from a friend & he had IC7.01 installed on it which I found very useful - so useful in fact that when I saw it was updated I actually dug deep & bought the new version so I'd have a copy if I had to reinstall.
Anyway, recently I had to reinstall IC7 using the bought copy & now the bloody thing doesn't work!! It fails during:
'Testing video quality part 1 of 1 (Phase 1/3)'
& comes up with a window with '80040231' in it & nothing else!
What the heck does that mean?! I tried uninstalling it again (including editing the registry) & still no joy - it does it on EVERY movie I try, including ones that I managed to copy before I installed the newer version.
Please help if u can, cheers

Yeah, did that already - no joy :(
Also did a web search for the above number but all that came back as a match was a site with characters my pc can't display (Chinese I think) where the only thing in English was 'VB Runtime'. It's not a VB error surely?

I have had this problem from time to time; it seems to be due to changes in the system files. Luckily I have a backup in which ic7 works so when I install something that messes up ic7, I use my back up and place a curse on the bad behaving program...banishing it from my computer forever more.

Moral: backup, install new program, check old programs are working.

Other option: reinstall windows.
