A friend of mine asked me if there was a way to take his CS demos and make a AVI out of them. After a little research, I learned that CS has a built in export function, but it dumps everything to a sequence of BMP image files. My question is: is there an Avisynth function, or piece of code, to load all these BMP files?

The easiest way is actually to simply open them in Vdub(Mod), if it should be straight BMP->AVI. Just drag the first file into vdub, and it will load the rest autiomatically.

If you want to process them however - you of course have to use AviSynth.

I have yet to see the results of the conversion from .dem -> bmp -> AVI, and I figured that I might need to do some form of cleanup on the images (smooth, sharpen, what have you). Thanks for the help, Ill let ya'all know how it goes when my video card is NOT A SMOKING HEAP:eek::angry:! *holds head in hands and cries

In my experience filters are needed to make realtime graphics (or even rendered ones) more compressible. Good ones so far are:

Undot() - Even though it's made for real video it helps here, as it removes "invisible" noise.

Unfilter() - Helps compression, by smoothing. Especially useful if material is not antialised.

BilinearResize() - Use this also to gain compression.
