If someone is bored this weekend, you could try opening realmedia files in AviSynth (using a directshow filter of Gabest). Thread can be found here (please, if you have problems, post it in that thread):

DirectShowSource("e:\test.rmvb",fps=23.976) opens fine in WMP6.4. It will continue to play fine unless you attempt the seek option. Once in a while it will crash the player with access violation.
Vdub will also load the AVS file without any problem, until you attempt to encode it :D Vdub will encode it for approximately 30secs and then crashed with access violation in module drv43260.dll. Else, it will continue to encode and does not stop even at the end of the file.
Vdub directstream copy seems to work however it can not come to a stop :D Every other encoding attempts will crash the program. Holy moly 1min = 500Mb with direct stream copy! and 745Mb with RGB output using fast recompression!!!!
