The disc 2 of Godfather Part II is 4.26GB. I ripped the files using DVD Decrypter. Can I burn these files directly using Nero or do I have to pass these files through DVD2One or DVDShrink and then burn the disc?

there is no need for the transcoding programs if it is less than 4.37GB as long as the IFO's have been updated correctly

When I rip all the files of a DVD using DVD Decrypter, does the IFO's get updated properly, or do I need to do anything special?

See discussion on ifoedit forum. Theoretically, you should do an ISO rip of the dvd, not a file rip. On a file rip, get vts sectors may or may not change the ifo files. In the latter case, you can get a coaster when you burn with Stomp RecordNow, but not always. I have no experience with Nero. Confused? Just run IC on your GF disc 2 ripped files, and rest a little easier that the resulting dvd-r will work on your player.

more or less do the above rip in iso mode write in iso mode simple or rip in file mode and then write it with another prog although ive never done the latter with out at least transcoding or encoding first using nero i find it does a great job (150 dvds and counting).

I just passed the 4.26GB ripped files into DVD2One with Full disk mode and specified 4472MB, and I got a 4.16GB output. I don't know why DVD2One compressed the files although it was not necessary. I guess I can just burn this safely and not worry about VTS sectors and IFOs.

i must admit the size you ended up with is strange, but not too far off.but yes you should burn them just fine.
