Would the VdubMod developers consider adding an audio spectrum display (like CoolEdit or GoldWave) across the bottom of the GUI, and a pointer that indicates your current frame?

This would help TREMENDOUSLY with manual sync jobs.

EDIT: Actually, you should use the slider bar as the pointer.

VdubMod would have to read/decode all audio, when a clip is loaded. Furthermore, I don't think it would be of much use without a zoom function.

I would be great - but it's not easy.

I hadn't thought of the delay due to scanning the whole audio file. But maybe it could be an option under Audio or Preferences? That way it COULD be activated if necessary, but isn't on be default.

Thinking about this last night, it occurred it me that if there was an audio display, it would be possible to mark a position in the audio and a position in the video and have vdubmod align the two points (either through an offset or FPS change)

Furthermore, you could mark two positions in the audio stream (one near beginning and one near end) and two corresponding video positions and have vdubmod align the audio, adjusting BOTH offset and FPS for a perfect sync. (at least they would be aligned as best as is possible)

It would work for 90%+ of the time. It should only fail if there is a damaged audio or video stream.

You guys might want consider something like this.

It would occur to me that dislaying the spectrum, means the audio signal divided into the several frequency bands, is not what we need, but much more displaying the actual waveform of the audio signal ( amplitude over time ), like on an oscilloscope ..... but i guess this is what was ment anyway ....

Yes, I mean an Amplitude vs Time graph. Spectrum was the wrong word.

It would appear in a third window like the input/output video windows, except this one would be sizable. This window would NOT appear on file load, but could be activated in necessary.

It would be a great feature for syncing !!!!
