you can view the effect i'm getting on these screenshots (captured using WinDVD) here:

http://home.insight.rr.com/lanealicia/cap002.bmp
http://home.insight.rr.com/lanealicia/cap003.bmp
http://home.insight.rr.com/lanealicia/cap001.bmp

it seems to my eyes that all other colors are being unaffected. simply the skin tones (note the browns, grays and greens). I did recently install a 'nimo codec pack' (i realize now this was exremely unwise!), but did uninstall and installed ffdshow alpha. after that i tried to reencode getting the same output once again!

i've copied many movies w/ dvd2svcd, and even converted several DivX movies to SVCD, but i cannot recall if this was prior to installing the dreaded 'nimo' codecs!!

any/all help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I have the same problem...all the picture with red skin tone in the original .avi becomes blue after conversion to SVCD. What should I do?

Log file enclosed. Please help me by giving me suggestions as how I should encode...btw, I'm a newbie, so please go slow. Thank you.

Anita

is this your first attempt at converting an avi (divx/xvid) to svcd?

have you installed 'nemo codec' pack?

this may help me assist you, as i did fix this strange problem.

I did not specifically install 'nemo codec' pack. I just used DVD2SVCD 1.1.3b2 which I downloaded from its website. I noticed it can also convert AVIs to SVCDs, so I gave it a try. How do I uninstall 'nemo codec' pack in SVCD? Do I have to reinstall 'nemo codec' for converting DVDs to SVCD?

Thanks,
Anita

No, Nimo Codec Pack is a collection of some Codecs. But IMO its a source of errors. But if you didn't install it u dont have to deinstall it too.

But i dont know what to do now with ur color problems :( !

Thank you for your suggestion. I guess I will just have to wait and see. For imcvity: Yes, this is my first avi conversion. I have used DVD2SVCD to convert DVD and have no problems what-so-ever. Only encounter the "blue skin" problem with the avi's. Thanks,

well, i've rectified my problem in this way.

-i figured that the source was the installation of a 'nimo codec pack'......which i uninstalled using the conventional windows 'install/uninstall' method. then i rebooted.

-i installed 'ffdshow alpha'. you can get it here (as well as various other places)
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/codecs_and_filters/ffdshow.cfm

-i also uninstalled my version of 'dvd2svcd', and reinstalled, opting not to use the latest version of 'avisynth', rather the version just prior. it'll give you this option as it's installing.

that did the trick for me.........no more martian men in my flicks!

give this a try (minus the nimo uninstall if you've never even heard the name 'nimo')

URGS, the codec pack names is 'nimo codec pack' not 'nemo codec pack'

nothing to do, per say. simply run dvd2svcd (avi2svcd in this case) and see if you don't have improved results! if possible give a trial run w/ a small avi file!

hope you get on well,
