Brightness variation

I have an "Fan Fan la tulpe" (movie released in 1958) DVD, it's an old black and white film. So, some frames are brighter than others, some are darker, and sometimes screen "flickers".

So, is there any avisynth filter that could correct this situation?

coloryuv can balance such kinda fluctuation with autogain/autowhite. but use it only for scenes having more or less the same (average) brightness. u can do scene selection with trim() or with applyrange()

there are filters against 'flicking' but i'm not sure we're talking about the same :-) check the filters at www.avisynth.org, anyway.

As yaz very correctly points out coloryuv isn't very intelligent and needs a lot of help - probably too much for it to be useful in your case.

oops ... i didn't want to point out this :-) i think it's a pretty good stuff. it's me who needs lottsa help on usage but it's not the problem of the filter.

There is a couple of filters that can help:
- Antiflicker Filter for VirtualDub by Donald Graft(http://shelob.mordor.net/dgraft/flick.html)
(BTW, there is a ported version for Avisynth - just search the forum)
- updated Antiflicker Filter by Alessandro Malanca / Donald Graft (http://web.tiscali.it/minomala/virtualdub/filters.htm)
