ICShell.zip by MPauley automates the process of ripping, executing Instant Copy, and burning. Requires DVDDecrypter, Daemon-Tools, PDIExtract (from PDITOOL), and Nero

http://www.mrbass.org/instantcopy/ to download it
Here's a screenshot (http://www.mrbass.org/instantcopy/34icshell.png)

thanks to nyplayer for your help concerning this and MPauley for writing it. Anyone who uses Instant Copy should definitely give this a whirl.

Why using NERO for burning when you can burn directly with IC?

All versions of NERO gives me problems with one of my DVD players. However, I never have problems with IC burning engine...

I had issue using IC's burning engine so I always used Nero. I would have used DVDDecrypter, but there isn't a command line for writing yet. If anyone has any suggesting or request, let me know and I can try to work it in.

"C:\Program Files\DVD Decrypter\DVDDecrypter.exe" /mode iso /src f: /dest d:\dvdrip\imagex.iso /start /overwrite yes /close

stolen from nyplayer in this thread
http://www.dvdrhelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=161591

read the readme.txt or whatever that comes with dvddecrypter it gives you all the commandline options available.

Unfortunately you cannot open a PDI file using command prompts in DVDDecrypter or burn it. Iso's will open but the PDI's won't for some reason.

There is no way to currently burn an ISO to DVD using command prompts in DVDecrypter. I was able to do it sending key strokes.

you sure? Did you associate .pdi in the settings | registry in dvddecrypter?

In a post from DVDDecrypter's forum by LIGHTNING UK!.... "I think that functionality is actually almost there...I'll check when im back home again". That was from April 25th and there hasnt been an update since then. Whenever I try a command line to:

C:\Program Files\DVD Decrypter\DVDDecrypter.exe /write c:\temp\stuff.pdi yada yada yada....

It just sits there.

NY Player - I thought about sending keystrokes, but I was trying to keep 'em to a minimum. There is already one in the program posted and I want to get rid of it somehow.

Uhm... quick question here. This tool reips/processes and burns, but what about IC sizing issues? Does the tool has any control concerning oversizing/undersizing in IC7? If so, then that would be THE TOOL :D :D

Hi All!

@Mr. Bass:
nice to meet ya :)

@nyplayer & EmPee:
the correct calling for DVDDecrypter for a pdi in ISO Mode is :
%APPPATH%\DVDDecrypter.exe /MODE ISOWRITE /SOURCE "%PATH%\%NAME%.PDI", this will bring DVDDecrypter up with ISO Write mode and the selected pdi as source, only drawback is, /START & /CLOSE parameters are ignored afterwards, so no automatic starting of the burning, besides that there is no /WRITE Command in DVDDecryptor CommandLine Parameters

@EmPee:
if you want to i can help ya getting rid of any sendkeys, let me know the prob and i'll see if i can help ya! (Fastest way to catch me is drop by in the InstantCopy Hidden Settings Editor Forum @ CDRBase.com)

TheMadGuy - thanks for the info. I used the command line:

DVDDecrypter.exe /MODE ISOWRITE /SOURCE "C:\TEMP\Stuff.PDI"

and all I get is:

Cannot open file: Stuff.pdi
Reason: The system cannot find the file specified.

But the file is there and the path and name is correct...

The only keystrokes Im sending right now are the W in Nero to Write the disc and an enter in InstantCopy to actually start the conversion.

FYI - I contacted the author of PDI2ISO and asked him to help with some changes that will hopefully speed up the conversion while DVD Decrypter has command line Write issues. It looks very promising!

Thats an interesting Bug as it seems in DVDDecrypter, try to pass the pdi without the " and see what happens :) Sometimes it works with it, sometimes it does not.

You can get rid of the "Enter" for IC by setting it up correctly before starting it, then conversion starts automaticly without interaction!

Concerning Nero, i havent checked on that yet. Just one word on it, you should also simply send an "ENTER" because e.g. on German Nero Versions "Write" is called "Brennen" and has the r as accelerator.
But since Write/Brennen is the default button an enter will also work, but on supposingly all languages of nero!

But anyways i suggest we should discuss this by pm or mail, it will get a little technical :D

so if youre in the mood contact me!

I see there's no reply to my question... probably that means that the sizing problem is not solved in any way. If this is so, what't the point of this tool? You get an oversized project and try to burn it  ?

Hi Fmazzanti!

to my current knowledge there is no way you can predict what InstantCopy is going to put out after a conversion, its results
differ so much from far to small to quite to large and there is
no real method in when what happens.
So any batch operation on rip / convert / burn can only be useful
if you are sure that you will have a less then 4.37GB result with
wich you are satisfied.

So this project will be helpful to all those who actualy live with
the usual 4.2x GB automated output of ic. Not less not more.

Greetings

Please note I'm not complaining about anything... however I must say that my experience is that sizing issues are really there and that you can't make sure beforehand that you'll end up with 4.2Gb. I've seen everything ranging from 3.8Gb to 4.8Gb...
Anyway as I said I do not complain.

I would just be happy if there was a tool that would let me run IC with customized resize settings and would shutdown my computer after it finished...:(
It could do the PDI extraction too, that's cool to have automatically, but my war now is with shutdown.
I cant't get the PC to perform a scheduled shutdown after IC has finished. I even tried using VDub to make a small job (with very low priority) so that it would start after IC had finished and shutdown afterwards, but it looks like the "Finished Job" dialog of IC won't let the PC be powered off.
Any suggestions?
(Remember I always do customised resize)

Sorry, I wasn't ignoring you, I missed your post....

My program does nothing but launches the necessary programs and closes them when done.

@EmPee:
yuor hotmail account is probably full so:

What I'm doing with IC is transcoding 7-8 GB PAL movies to 4.5, setting every compression level manualy (using the InstantCopy Hidden Settings Editor 1.3.1, via the DVDMagic setting) for every title set. I need this because I can use a lot of bitrate from most of the extras, in the main title. (Either by reducing or removing)

When IC finishes, it displays some kind of "Finished Processing" dialog box. I guess it's this box that prevents all kinds of shutdown, because after aknowledgeing the box, the PC with accept a scheduled shutdown. I will check it again tonight with a fast job...

But there is another problem with my method and your tool. (Not with your tool, but with IC) How could I (using your tool) set the compression levels if IC will only batch process Automatic Resize jobs?

duartix

This is probably a bit stupid but let me get one thing clear:

I'm not using your tool!
These problems arise with IC as a standalone, OK?

I'll address just this one cuz ts the only answer I know :D. Easiest way to shut IC down using ICShell would be for me to add a file size every minute after 2 hours or so and if the file size doesnt change, then send the command to close IC.

Easiest way to shut IC down using ICShell would be for me to add a file size every minute after 2 hours or so and if the file size doesnt change, then send the command to close IC. I suggest that instead of filesize, you check CPU usage from process MultiCopy. Sometimes along the end IC is just not acessing the hard drive but it's still processing (I don't know what, but I've seen it happen).
I've taken a peek at the settings files IC saves when you press F6. It contains compressions rates for every title set plus audio and subtitle information. What I don't know is if they can be loaded afterwards:confused:.
Is it possible for ICShell to send a job to IC force it to use Customised Resize and load those settings?

EmPee

I'll take a look at those settings this week and see what I can do. I cant promise anything.

I had wrote a little utility to shutdown the computer after job finished.

Well, I just finished coding v1.5 today and Im waiting to here back from a tester or 2 to make sure it works good before I send it to MrBass.

This one:

+Checks the size of the orginal DVD to see if it needs IC or not.
-If it doesn't, it will just rip then burn with DVDDecrypter.
-If it does, it will now prompt for a DVDVolume name if the disc does not have one.

+I removed nero from the program and now you only need DVDDecrypter, DAEMON tools and InstantCopy.

+I need 2 more testers that can try this out and report back to me today. If you can, please reply a reply here.

Thanks maxmax!
Meanwhile I posted about this in the IC forums and received some very good advice which is:

Go to control panel and use the power saving options to hibernate the PC. It works great! I set it to 5 minutes of inactivity and it hibernates only after IC has finished.
But I rather have it shutdown, so:

Thanks again!

I just sent Version 2 to Mr Bass to be posted, but you can also get it here (www.lookma-nohands.com/ICShell.zip). Here are the updates:

v2.0
1. VERY IMPORTANT!!! You must set the DVD resize mode to automatic in order to prevent showing of the customize disc dialog (From MR.Bass' site).
2. Now uses DVDDecrypter to burn disc via sendkeys (Nero removed).
3. If orginial DVD is 4.3 or less, program just rip and burn the DVD.
4. If the orginal DVD does not have a volume name, you will be prompted for one.
5. Code completely redone.

Any and all comments and feature request are welcome!
