DVD Fab keeps crashing on me when I try to choose the directories for the source and destination. This has always happened with DVD Toolbox also but at least DVD Toolbox saves the dir so I just use the same directories but DVD Fab doesn't save it so I can't even use it. I registered also in hopes of fixing it but it still crashes. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. I'm running XP w/ SP1 installed.

C:\Program Files\DVDFab\DVDFab.ini
modify this DVDFab.ini to look like below...If it still doesn't work..I'm guessing it has to do with your perhaps not an administrator on your winxp perhaps? Try ouputpath=c:\ and that's it if below doesn't work.
[Main]
StartupCount=a
InputPath=C:\
OutputPath=C:\Program Files\DVDFab\DVDTemp\
SubMovePoints=
[CGP]
Standard=DVDFab
I registered also in hopes of fixing it but it still crashes.
Registering does nothing but motivate dvdtoolbox to fix bugs, enhance dvdfab, etc. Only thing different is the two 5 - 10 sec nag screens. No limitations or restrictions with unregistered version.
Side note: I finished half my dvdfab guide. Not sure why a guide was even required for that though. DVDToolbox is almost dead..ok well it is dead since there's no reason in using it any longer as DVDFAB has all the functionality of dvdtoolbox.
well, the directories are there but the program still crashes. I'm the only user on my PC at home so I know I have admin access. This sux...

Hello. I'm new to the scene. I've been using DVDXCopy for a while with success for the most part. However, I read many good things about DVDFab so I thought I'd try it.
Everything was working fine using the guide provided by mrbass, but DVDFab (v 0.15 and 0.16) both keep quitting after processing the files.
This post is the closest I've read to someone having the same problem. I've also tried what mrbass suggested in this thread with no success. I'm running a dual boot W2K/WinXP Pro and I've tried DVDFab in both OSes and it quits at the same spot everytime. Oh, I've also tried about 3 different DVDs, again, all quitting at the same spot.
DVDFab sounds like the best freeware for 1:1 backups (allowing DVD -> 2 DVDRs) and I'd like to see if I can get it to work for me. Any help would be great.

I'm having the same problem, though I have never used DVD Toolbox.
My post was here:

I am also using Windows XP w/ SP1.
If you ever figure out why its occurring, or a workaround, then please share.
Thanks!

and 0.17.0 also quits?
Surprisingly, I installed 0.17 and had success (with at least one DVD). Thanks for the input mrbass...I know it might seem somewhat obvious to install the latest version to test it out, but since 0.15 and 0.16 didn't work, I didn't have any plans on actually trying 0.17.
I didn't try it with my WinXP, just my W2K OS (I'm not a huge fan of WinXP)...
