VCDXBuild Does not work while VCDImager works fine

My problem is the same as a bug #164 in the bugs list.

The problem (if you don't read the bug) is that when I use VCDXBuild, the image created produces a disc that my Apex player tells me there is "No Disc", and neither of my PC CD Drives will read it including the same drive that burnt the disc. When I use VCDImager, the disc is fine.

Here are the things I have tried:
1. I have made VCDXBuild images myself using another program (can't recall name at the moment. I'll look it up). The chapters worked fine on those discs, but I think DVD2SVCD is much easier to use. (Despite this problem)

2. I installed the ASPI driver on the DVD2SVCD home page.

3. I have used BlindWrite, Alcohol 120%, and the latest version of Nero to try burning these images. Neither of them produce different results.

4. I have tried using a virtual CD drive and a disc copy feature in several cd burning programs.

5. I have tried burning at various writing speeds and using different CD-Rs including CD-RWs.

6. I tried burning the disc without the .cue file and just telling Nero to use Mode 2. This caused the disc to become recognized on the Apex player, but after pressing play the disc would immediately stop. When putting it in my PC, it would play fine on Cyberlink PowerDVD. PowerDVD, though, tends to play things even when they have errors such as this.

If you can think of anything else to try I would be very appreciative. My Apex DVD player has always been able to play everything I've thrown at it until recently. Some SVCDs that I have received from other people would not work lately. They turned out to be encoded by DVD2SVCD using VCDXBuild. I can't figure out why this isn't working.

By the way, my DVD player is the Apex AD-1100W. I have checked compatibility lists for this player and it is compatible with just about everything.

Here is the log file for one particular movie I had this problem with. It is The Recruit. The log file is a bit messy because I recovered the file after using VCDXBuild, so that I could redo it using VCDImager. Also I was experimenting with ways to solve the problem.

Might I suggest the obvious: just use VCDImager from now on. Or try using CDRDAO to burn the images (I use CDRDAO as controlled by VCDEasy to burn the DVD2SVCD produced images).

Well, I will try CDRDAO, but I'd rather not just use VCDImager because I want chapters if I can have them. On the other hand, it's not that big of deal. At least VCDImager fixes the time code problem that Nero causes for me.

In your original post you say you've received SVCDs that other people have made and you can't play those either. Can the people who made them play them on their machines? Have you tried uninstalling DVD2SVCD and reinstalling? I've not had any problem playing VCDXbuild created images burned to disc, but I'm using a Pioneer 353 standalone player, not an Apex. I've made dozens of discs with no problem. Using DVD2SVCD/TMPGEnc Plus/VCDXbuild, and VCDEasy/CDRDAO on a Yamaha 2100SZ UltraSCSI burner. I also burn the discs at 16x speed (the highest my burner goes) with no problems. CD-Rs and CD-RWs play beautifully.
