Can anyone recommend a good stand alone player that will handle just about any media you toss into it, i.e DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, etc.

I use Sony DVD-R's and they play O.K. on a Hitachi DVD player, but it's not perfect, or even close, so I am looking to upgrade.

Thanks for the input.

i canot say a model, direclty, but i work on video porduction, i sell filmed dvd for customers, and after testing a LOT of standalones (sony, sva, toshiba, sanyo an other know brands) appears to de PHILIPS the best brand.

is the most compatible, play all kind of dvds, (dvd-r, dvd-rw, dvd+r, rw, vcd and svcd in any kind on cheap cd, also plays mpeg files in cd...

in some cases of bad dvds, in almost all players i have big jumps of time, long time skips, but in my philips (model dvd 615) it just make a litle noise and continue playing in these bad dvd ive recorded..... this make me feel think if philips have more compatible or better decoder... and the drive lens are good too....

its just my opinion...
