View Full Version : Writing with IC7 is OK, but with Nero it's not?

I have successfully backed-up many DVDs with IC7 for compressing and also writing.

More recently I have been using DVDShrink (1.03 and 2.3), usually just taking the main film and sometimes just one extra. However, if I try to write the resulting files with Nero (5.5.10.35) I see maybe only 10% success. The burn appears OK, but I cannot playback on my PC nor my standalone for the majority of attempts.

Similarly for DVD-5s, ripping in ISO-mode with DVD-Decrypter and writing it with the same, or with Nero, does not produce anything I can play.

So, generally I am ripping with DVD-Decrypter, processing with DVDShrink, then re-processing with IC7 at 100%, then writing the pdi files with IC7. This is a bit cumbersome, but works for me.

I have the (infamous!) NEC-ND1100A DVD writer with the updated f/w from Dell and I am using various media (Traxdata, Datawrite, Bulkpaq). Remember they work fine when burnt from IC7. I have PowerDVD and my standalone is a Sony DVP-S725D.

A friend of mine has a Sony dual-format writer and I can always play his DVD+R or -R backups (burnt from Nero).

Why can't I burn ISO successfully?
Why does IC7 burn OK, but Nero does not?

Thoughts/advice?
Thanks,
YYZ.

Simply do not use Nero :). Try ImgTool from CouJo. You can download it from www.coujo.de or from Doom9īs download page. I use ImgTool 0.99.8 and Nero 5.5.9.14 and have no problem at all. You can also check if your compilation contains some "0 byte files". If yes, delete them, get "get VTS sector" in Ifoedit and burn.
