Hi
I just installed CPUIdle Pro 6.0b, and my CPu went from 50° to 35°!!!!
Give it a try!!
I have a Athlon XP 2000+ with a VIA KT400

Yep use it myself. Was a sceptic at first but it does what it says on the tin!!! Im using a watercooling setup with an xp1700 o/c to 2.5 gig (12.5X200) at 1.95Vcore. Now idles at 35C and load temp =42C

Look for a bios for your mobo (or a hack if you're fearless) that has coolbits enabled...

Yes. it's very effective by surfing and similar low CPU loading activities. But cools nothing when CPU load is high (encoding).
And must be turned off when capturing video, otherwise it will be full of glitches.

I thought coolbits was used for overclocking nvidia cards. Dont see what thats got to do with cpu temps!!!

Indeed.But there are certain bios instructions that Windows can use when idling the cpu (from what i can remember win2k has the higher cpu idle temp).It wasnt meant as one word (i 'm aware of the registry trick with nvidia's cards).My mobo had a bios version with this option disabled ...
