Whenever u rip free files and not an iso image to hd, u need to 'Get VTS Sectors'. There isn't curently any conviencing explanation afaik. I believe that it has to do with the sluck in every hd, but this is just a theory.

If you rip ALL the files with ALL the original streams this is not necessary. I rip this way (SmartRipper in file mode), and Get_VTS_Sectors reports no errors.

hello mpucoder,

However Ifoedit corrects some pointers, some times, in a full file rip. This is happening occasionaly and independently of decrypter or smartrip usage. Is it possible that something is wrong in my system?

Probably not. IfoEdit insists on the bup and ifo files residing in different ECC blocks. This is the only correction I've seen it make, and it does not indicate a problem with the ripped files. Maybe this happens more in R2 than here?

I have also seen this happen. On Image label single layer discs, Get Vts sectors makes no corrections. On one of Takashi Miike's movies (don't recall the label), Get Vts sectors does correct the ifo files. It's a coin flip. This is one of life's enduring mysteries. I suppose Derrow could do a before and after binary diff of the ifo files that do get corrected, and explain it to we mere mortals.

Here's the outcome of all of this. If the sectors are corrected, I will attempt to burn straight from the ripped VIDEO_TS folder, when capacity permits. If not, I use IC to build a pdi file set, even if the original dvd was 4.3 GB or less. You can call me superstitious, but I have several coasters made from full file rips of single layer dvds, where ifoedit indicated that no vts sector corrections were necessary.
