DVDFAB hack allows processing directly from DVD without having to rip it first with DVDDecrypter, for example.

Thanks to DVDToolBox for providing an awesome FREEWARE alternative to splitting to two DVD±Rs keeping 100% video just like DVDXCopy $99.

I have just tried this on Terminator 2 Ultimate DVD, the Pal version and it works great. I use WinXP and already had an aspi layer installed, so I copied the hack to C:\Program Files\DVDFab, then put the original T2 DVD in my DVD drive and started DVDFab on a full disk copy, 27 minutes later I have 2 DVD folders on my hard drive ready for burning, checked them with Power DVD5 and they work fine, all the extras were on disk 1, very nice.

I am Very impressed, and nice not having to use a ripper, all it needs now is the ability to burn to disk

It's the same thing as InterVideo DVDCopy $60 and DVDXCopy $99. I never heard CloneDVD was going to get a split to two DVDs feature.

NOTE: CloneDVD does not backup copy-protected DVDs! Many DVDs are Content Scrambling System (CSS) encoded, which is a copy-protection file system. If a DVD is CSS-encoded then the DVD reader will refuse to access the disc. Therefore CloneDVD cannot read the files and make a copy.

Where did you read that there would be a hack for Elby CloneDVD?

These programs do have dvd decryption capability:
dvdshrink, dvdfab (with hack), dvd2dvd-r, dvdxcopy, dvd2svcd

Works great, I tried Monsters INC and it looks fantastic, took aprox 24 minutes to do the movie only, very user friendly. No need to install Aspi.

ok I guess that's what your talking about...yes that'd be cool for Elby CloneDVD to have.

btw, I need just a couple people to vouch for a small VB app that is like a frontend to Instant Copy and supposedly rips with dvddecrypter, etc.

a.. Put DVDCopyStuff.exe anywhere on your PC.
b.. Make sure all the file paths are correct on the form.
c.. Put a movie in your DVD-ROM drive and a blank disc in your DVD+/-R(W) drive.
d.. Click "Convert"
e.. When done you will have a copy of your movie and an ISO you will need to delete.

Now I need to know if this little app does what it says because I ain't got IC7 installed on my computer. Anyone adventurous to test it out? If so email

Gonna try Matrix "Copy Complete DVD" when I get home. 0.16.0 is released which supposedly corrects many dvds that crashed before.

edit: ok tried Matrix and it did crash...however this time instead of crashing halfway on disc1 it made it to 99.9% of splitting but just as it was about to get to the "copying menus and extras" it crashed.

After installing Aspi 4.60 hack finaly worked for me but now I am wondering-- I checked it out and it is obvious it decodes CSS and removes RCE but does it also removes Macrovision?

R.I.P 0.17.0 (final freeware version) has been out for a few days but just wasn't released to the public per se.

I just read in a german board a post from the developer himself, that on July 17th a freeware version without registering stuff and popups will be placed on the homepage. There will be no further versions and the homepage will be shutdown on 31st of July.

I translated the most important parts from his statement:
His decision is based on a new copyright law (which will "go live" on August 1st), which has been released recently in Germany. Besides other stuff it prohibits cracking of copy-protection.

People were wondering, 'cause DVDFab doesn't crack CSS, but he stated that macrovision is also a copy protection. Some may also argue that Regioncodes are copy protection, too.

He also said, that if you want, you can also describe IFO-files as a sort of copy-protection.

Because of that and the responsibility for his family and his company, he doesn't wanna become a "target".

Although I didn't use this nice app on a regular basis, I must admit that it's kinda pity and the community loses a very capable developer :(

Matrix NTSC R1 DVD works with 0.17.0 with 'Copy Complete DVD' as all previous versions crashed on this paticular dvd. This bug I'm sure affected quite a few dvds out there. Not saying DVDFab is perfect but it's much improved.

It's very depressing there will be no more updates. I use this program all the time and get perfect copies.

Man, this little proggy was starting to get real progressive, when I got to the 3rd movie I was converting:

Lawrence of Arabia Disc 2.
Basically,the program goes through all the steps, no errors. But the problem lies when I try to play Part 1 of Disc 2.

Movie comes up in WinDVD, menus show, even all extras work fine, if I try to play movie, the FBI warnings come on, but as soon as the movie's about to kick-in, the player freezes.
If I try to go select any scene on the disc from the Scene Selection menu it will freeze up as well, even on scenes on the disc.

Now odd thing is, Part 2 of Disc 2 works perfectly.

Anyone what I can do to try to rectify this?

Also sorry to hear that there will be no more development of DVDFab, maybe someone will aquire the source code and continue the good work.

I have used DVDDecrypter combined with IFOedit and more recently DVDfab many times to back up my DVD's. I burn with Nero and a Pioneer A105. Occasionaly NERO comes back with a message saying it can't sort the files and that they don't meet the standard and might fail. I always just ignore this message and continue anyway. The discs mostly always work on my standalone. Does anyone else get this type of message/problem. Its a minor issue but a little disconcerting. It only happens intermittently.
