hello all,
I've been enjoying great DVD rips with Gordian Knot for about a year now. I was using version 2.26. Recently I upgraded to Windows XP and wiped my drive. I downloaded and installed 2.28 and haven't been able to successfully encode yet. I end up with a file the right size that plays like a slideshow.....it's very strange. The encoding quality is great but the movie is completely unwatchable. I'm sure it's something simple and stupid but I'm not doing anything differently than I have been....HELP!!!

Thanks,

Macros

p.s. I should also note that the compression test no longer seems to work....I'm getting OBSCENE percentages always in the red on the bitrate slider (numbers in the thousands)

Are the rips done since GK 0.28 only affected or are all previous rips the same?

Post a GK log file if possible.

Hmmmm....I don't understand the question. Are you suggesting that it's the DIvx playback that's at fault and not GK? I hadn't even thought of that. I did install Divx 5.02 and Zoom Player. I'll go home and test that out. I'll post a log file if it still doesn't work. Basically I have several ripped movies sitting on my HD that I hadn't gotten around to encoding...after I upgraded and installed GK 2.8.5 I did all the same steps I used to with GK 2.6 and, as I said, the Compression test doesn't work and the end result is a pretty slideshow. But I'll test to see if my old encodes are affected. If so I'll just reinstall Divx......

I was just looking at screenshots of the default settings for Divx...and I think I saw something that might be causing part of the trouble. The default setting for frame drops was all the way to the right at like 400%. i didn't put it there...but that might cause the slideshow? Yes? I still have the compression test problem though........hmmmm.....HELP
