These were the only relevant entries in the log. I've played the ogg, it's fine, the movie itself is fine, but apparently GK failed to mux the audio. There were no errors in the log pertaining to that. I am using the new beta, .5. It is a fresh install, straight from rippack. I searched forums and didn't see anything like this, but if I overlooked another post concerning this I apologize in advance. :)

I attempted to manually mux using nandub, but when I select "ogg vorbis" from the audio menu, and try to open the file, nandub dies with a debugging output. Image included below. :) Thank you for any help you might be able to give!

(Oh, also, movie was ripped/audio encoded via R4R, which used besweet I believe). Logs included below as well.

Using azid.dll v1.8 (b825) by Midas (midas@egon.gyaloglo.hu).
Using Ogg Vorbis v1.0 dlls (http://www.vorbis.com).
Manual Dynamic-Compression algorithm by LigH (author of WaveBooster).

Just read a reply to another thread stating you can't mux ogg and avi, (totally unrelated thread, found it while browsing.) Is this true? GK attempted to mux so I thought it was possible, but I never know. I will just use matroska for now, I'd be interested to see if this is the actual case, however. :)

Well I'm glad you read that. You cannot mux Ogg into AVI, but Matroska isn't the only one. OGM can too, in fact it was originaly meant for the OGM, but Matroska just copied it =P

Well, OGM hasn't been updated in ages (as far as I can tell) and I hear a lot of hoopla about matroska. Any input on this? Thank you for your information!

PS - I am assuming for people to play matroska files they will also need something installed, if so - what? That way I can include it on cds I burn. Your help is very much appreciated. :)

Edit: Should I be using mp3 instead of ogm? I just found ogm to be smaller and for 1 cd rips which I like to do, that is a very good thing! Hehe.

Edit2: Using vdubmod, opened the avi, added another stream (the ogg) and choose to save as mkv. I hope this will work. What will people need to play this back?

OGM has a much smaller Overhead, so you can actually give more bitrate for your movie.

If you want to use Matroska, check the new AV Forum. In there, there is a thread that has an installer with every filter you need to create Matroska files.

You created your Matroska file correctly. You just need to install those playback filters. Also I suggest using FFDshow to play back your video.

and I hear a lot of hoopla about matroska. Any input on this? Thank you for your information!matroska is under heavy development of course at the moment. but i didnt heard about much hoopla!?

PS - I am assuming for people to play matroska files they will also need something installed, if so - what? That way I can include it on cds I burn. Your help is very much appreciated. :)of course you have to register a file splitter (also called directshow filter) to playback .mkv or .ogm files.
the only reason why you dont have to install such a thing for .avi is that it is already installed on windows per default ;)
just include the installer you will find on matroska.org

Edit: Should I be using mp3 instead of ogm? I just found ogm to be smaller and for 1 cd rips which I like to do, that is a very good thing! Hehe.1) .ogm is just the (non-official) container format for audio-video
2) .ogg is the audio container
3) vorbis is the audio codec (like xvid for a video codec)

so to say vorbis is much better than mp3 and yes you should use vorbis instead of mp3.

Edit2: Using vdubmod, opened the avi, added another stream (the ogg) and choose to save as mkv. I hope this will work. What will people need to play this back?download the matroska directshow filter from matroska.org
