I've had this Pioneer DVD-RW drive for so long I don't even know what I can do with it anymore. It never did what I expected it to do when I got it preinstalled with my Dell computer.

The most I was able to do was format DVD-RW's to use them as 4.3 gig floppy disks. And since then I've had to reinstall XP for harddrive problems and I can't even make the 4.3 gig floppys now. Dell NEVER gave me an even instruction book for this 500 dollar POS product. All I got was outdated verisons of Sonic MyDVD and InterVideo WinDVD.

I have the same drive.... it certainly hasn't been a POS for me. I've used it for over a year and a half, backed up a very large number of DVDs, and am currently writing at 2X with the newer blanks.

Well theres no information (that came with it) that helps me to 'backup' my dvd collection. Which really bothers me.

So anything you can tell me to do so would help.. or point me in the right direction.

Edit: Can you help me any?

semmemon,

You might want to spend some time at doom9's forum, here: http://forum.doom9.org/forumdisplay.php?forumid=65

Your 'A03 will work with any of the "one-click" backup solutions, and this forum has some ideas about reasonably priced media.

Wel I'm ordering DVD95 now, I just hope it works with my DVD-RW.

Edit: Actually after reading some more I'm torn between DVDone and DVD95..

Just a tip, if you want to burn at 2X on the most current media (rated at 1-4X) you may need to upgrade your firmware to version 2.00 or later look here (http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/hs/pioneer.html)
