help with tmpg!

Hi!

I´m stuck! I try to decode a Xvid file to a svcd using Tmpg Enc latest version. But it say that I dont have a decoder? I have Koepi's Xvid decoder installed. What kind of decoder should I use?

could this have anything to do with your problem?

If you load up the avi and then preview the image what does it say? Also if you play the .avs script in Windows Media player what does it say? I bet they will both say that there is no decompressor found for this file.

Can you play the avi in WMP? If you can then you might need another codec to use for converting the file.

You can use a program called gspot that will tell you what codec the avi uses and if its installed correctly on your system.

I think that the reason why DVD2SVCD took that out is because even though there was the correct codec installed DVD2SVCD was saying that the codec wasnt there and not do the conversion.

of course you're right. what i meant to say was perhaps sharpo is using an older version. if ever we get to see the log file we might know more :rolleyes:

Go to your Environmental Settings in TMPGEnc and increase the priority of the Directshow filter.

Big thanks for all your help. It seems that I now have the right decoder.

There is only a small issue left:

"You are trying to create MPEG-2 file"
"To playback MPEG-2 file DVD player software needs to be installed on your system"

Hmm I´m using a Hollywood plus card together with DVD-station .But it seems this won´t work.

Do I need another dvd player software???

I am not too sure what comes with your Hollywood plus card but if you didnt install any software then you would need to install a MPEG-2 decoder. You can use PowerDVD or WinDVD.

Also I think that there is some software out there you can install that you dont have to buy that will allow you to play MPEG-2 files.

Hm I wonder what that free software is called?

With H+ mpeg card you get a player called dvd-station.

It would be nice if I could get it to work without having to buy another software player.
