hey!
i made my first matroska-movie but i have some problems. the final movie isn't how i wanted it.
i used virtualdub mod 1.5.1 to encode the movie and to mux audio and video. i have 2 ogg-audio-files (german and english) and my first qestion is: with which program can i change the audio? i couldn't do it with bsplayer.
and i also made 2 subtitle-files (with subrip - also german and english) but i just can see the german subtitles and i can't change them with bsplayer.
thirdly, the chapters i made with chapter xtractor aren't shown in bsplayer and so i can't choose a chapter. as i made a movie in ogm it was no problem with chapters.
so can you please say me what's wrong?
greetings,

I hope you used the latest VDMod "exe only prerelease 20030611" for muxing.
At the bottom of this page (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=65889)
I like gabest Matroska Splitter 1.0.1.0.
For diplaying subtitles you need the latest VSFilter 2.26 (http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli/)
For Ogg Audio I recommend the CoreVorbis Decoder (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=54805&perpage=20&pagenumber=3)(bottom of the thread)
I'm not really familiar with the BsPlayer(but build 499 (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=55108) with matroska support is out)
With Zoomplayer and Media Player Classic you can easily switch the Audio/subtitles streams in the context menü.
Chapters aren't supported at the moment.

Matraska doesn't have the ability to use chapters yet. It is plan for both in specs and design, but the implementation hasn't been completed yet. So, for now ... no chapters.

can you tell me how to use the vsfilter? it is a .dll. I try place it in the same folder as mpc, system32, but still cannot view subtitle... T__T
also can you tell me how to use the Matroska Muxer? it is a .ax. I though it is a program exe file...

You have to register the vsfilter.dll so that the programmes know where to find it.
1. Put the .dll (the same goes for .ax) to the directory where you want them to stay (for example c:\directshowfilter)
2. Open a cmd window and cd into this directory
3. run "regsvr32 vsfilter.dll" to register the file ("regsvr32 /u vsfilter.dll" to unregister (before you delete it, if you don't want to use it anymore))
The same applies to Matroska Muxer. When it is properly registered you can use it with Graphedit (I think there is a download link and a guide on using Graphedit on http://www.doom9.org ).
But I guess for the beginning it is easier to use VDubMod (make sure you get latest Version: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=55290)

thx for help. I can now view subtitle successfully. ^^
But seems I cannot choose to disable subtitle or switch audio as I do for ogm... I convert an ogm to mkv then open with mpc, but I cannot navigate different audio/subtitle as I do in ogm... can you tell me how?
Do I need to use CoreVorbis Decoder instead of oggds as mentioned by filewalker so as to switch audio? but I cannot download from the link he posted... is corevorbis decoder a subtitle for oggds?

@h9903209
If your missing dll/ax filters, install the Matroska Install Pack from this (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=55745) tread.
For me I use mplayer2 and to change subs, I just right click and goto language and select/disable subtitle. Works fine.

I just discover that only MPC (6.4.5.6) cannot switch audio or disable subtitle in mkv... zoomplayer works fine... don't know why...
I use MatroskaSplitter_20030618 + vsfilter_20030618.

Ehm... anyone remember Stream Switcher (http://www.morgan-multimedia.com/mmswitch/)? :p
This filter allow you to switch any audio & sub streams in all DS players.

I'll check mmswitcher. edit: Seems to work as long as you have audio streams with the same channelnumber/frequency/bits.
Also I have found, that with MatrixMixer (or Trombettwork's ChannelDownmixer), the mixer and the switcher instanciate twice one after another, i.e. mixer(s)-->switcher-->mixer-->switcher-->DSound. It would be great if the switcher in MPC could be turned into a DirectShow filter. Gabest's work is awesome!
