you didn't properly disable DMA when flashing your drive with new firmware

running XP home
DRU 500A

I disabled DMA on the drive itself but not in windows

more info : I disabled DMA in the device manager on IDE controllers but not under the system devices whereI think I should have. I confirmed the firmware is ugraded on my DRU500A to 2.0F but are there any other problems I might have created??

Firstly, please always DO finish your questions in the header. It makes life for us, readers, soooo much easier.

Secondly, if your drive seems to be working fine, don't worry... It's just an extra precaution to avoid potential problems.

DMA in or under windows has nothing to do with upgrading or flashing hardware. That is done in a doslike program.
