View Full Version : Setting default audio to no play?

There are several other topics on this that I read through, but I have a question still.

I just got through shrinking down the new Led Zeppelin DVDs that came out last month, which contain 3 audio tracks, 1 is a 2ch PCM, 2 is Dolby 5.1, 3 is DTS.

So, I naturally threw out the 2 channel, and kept the 5.1 and DTS tracks (all done with DIF4U, DCCE4U, and ReAuthorist). The end result works fine, but this particular movie doesn't go to the menu right off, it starts with the main movie and reverts to the menu after the main movie is over. This creates a problem since the 2ch audio track that was thrown away was the default, the first one. Since the menu doesn't play first, there's no "obvious" menu for the user to select his or her preferred audio from right away either, and since the 2ch track was removed it plays nothing by default.

So, I just opened up the main movie IFO in IFOEdit and set Audio 1 to no play (value zero) in the audio settings under the PGC for that title set and saved it with tracks 2 and 3, the 5.1 and DTS, as they were.

PowerDVD handles this the way I thought it would and the way I wanted it to, Audio 1 is greyed out, and if you select the 2ch audio track from the menu it still plays the next in line (Audio 2, the 5.1), and Audio 2 is the default when the movie starts.

My question is, is not having an audio track in that first slot a no-no? Is there a possibility of some players not handling the IFO properly if the first audio track is disabled?

Open up ifo in ifoedit, go to PGCITI and map the 1st audio to the value of the second. This should be 33324. This way audio 1 is present but plays audio 2 instead and u r compatible with every standalone.

Could you elaborate on exactly how you did this? You're using short-hand terminology here :)

Do I go to "{0000000c} Audio Stream 1 Status" and change the value from 32768 to 0? Does that set it to "no play"?

- I've tried this and it does nothing.

Well it should. Did u save the ifo afterwards?

Yes I saved it. I'm actually working with the same disc as Xayd (Led Zeppelin DVD, PAL version though) and I did the same thing (remove PCM to fit it on DVD-R). Yet, after setting that value to 0 and saving it I still end up with three visible audio channels on PowerDVD and the default being LPCM (channel 1) which is empty.

It's working now. My fault - I was making changes to the wrong IFO :)
