View Full Version : Adding Permanent Subtitles

I have only been using dvd2svcd for a short time and haven't figured out all of the kinks yet. I have a dvd player that doesn't support SVCD titles, so I want to use permanent subtitles instead. When I ripped and encoded I selected SVCD by accident, so now I can't see the subs at all. I have the .sub file and I have all the bitmaps saved, as well as all of the files from the entire process. Is there a way that I can encode permanent subtitles into the .mpgs that I have muxed coming out of bbmpg? I tried following the .log file, and opened winsubmux at the right step manually, then added in the muxed bbmpg file, then added the .sub files, but nothing I do seems to make them permanent. Since dvd2svcd does permanent subtitles, I figure there must be a command line option in winsubmux that I can use? Any help is much appreciated, thanks!

dear ppohio,

welcome to the forum. permanent subs are actually encoded in the mpeg video file, i.e. they become part of the video. This is what makes them permanent. you need to reencode the video WITH the subs (i know, i know... it takes forever). IMHO you might as well start all over again.
there is no way you can do this using winsubmux. sorry to bring you the bad news :(
