Does DVD2SVCD support CCE Basic?

CCE Basic seems like a pretty good encoder. Does it work with DVD2SVCD.. for those of us who can't afford the full CCE?

NO really is the best answer, DVD2SVCD does not support CCE basic and a wise and patient person would just wait and hope that a future release would support the basic version. But if you just have to use CCE basic right now you can do so with just a small helping hand to CCE at the video encoding step.

CCE will halt with a message something like, could not create the file =c:\, that equal sign is part of the problem, click OK on all the message boxes and you will see a CCE box with one or more .avs files. Double click on one of the main movies (the one(s) with more than 2 frames). That opens the encoder setting box. On the lower left under output files look at the video file, get rid of the equal sign
(=C:\some_file). Now look at the top right under video settings in the mode box, make your desired selections. If you're new at this and don't know what to select go with MPEG-2 and 2-pass VBR. Now click ok. If you don't see any other .avs files listed skip the next paragraph.

Double click on each of the mpeg stills (the one that show a 2 in the frames column) remove the same (=), the other parameters should be correct. Now you want to click OK but it's greyed out, click on one of the white boxes but don't change any parameters, now the OK button is black, click on it. Repeat this for all of the mpeg stills.

Now click encode, click yes or no when asked to if you want to save the changes to the .ecl file. Now CCE and DVD2SVCD should run normally. Good Luck. Mike.
