Xvid Statsreader or regular second pass!

I would even prefere to do a poll and see what most people do!
I was wondering if it would be a better idea to use the statsreader sw that comes with xvid for the second pass or go for a regular 2nd pass with the codec itself. What advantages each could have and whats your choice?

I do second pass using the codec itself, as I can set it up and sleep while both passes are done for me.

As far as I know using statsreader isn't really of any advantage for 1cd rips. Where when going for 2cds then you can place a keyframe in the right place so that it will split over the 2cds nicely.

There used to be a big difference between the way the statsreader scaled the bitrate curve and the way XviD does it internally. But this isn't so anymore. So-called 'linear scaling' in XviD does pretty much the same as the statsreader.

Does this mean you can use stats reader to just insert keyframes and then NOT have to have it do its own scaling or encode the second pass with xvid's "External Scaling" mode?
