When I compress a movie using DVDShrink or DVD2One to 4.37GB, the movie freezes at the last 10 to 15 minutes. I tried reducing the backup size from 4472MB in decrements of 50MB and I was able to run the movie sucessfully at 4150MB.

But since the movies I backup are generally in the 6.0GB range, I'd like to use the full 4.37GB and not waste any space. Is there a way to use all the 4.37GB and avoid the freezing or pixelisation problems?

Is there any settings in my DVD Writer that can eliminate this problem. I burn at 2.4X

Details:

Burner: HP 300i
Media: DVD+R Fuji, HP
Software: DVD Decrypter | DVDShrink or DVD2One | Nero

hi there,
ive had the same prob but ive found that the higher the compression leval the more difficult the disc becomes, try ripping at about leval 3 or 4 ,dont go any higher leval 1 seems to give me probs 2 but im note two bothered about sub menus all i want is m.m.o.(main movie only)try using nero express its been faultless with me although some discs have been a bit sticky ,once burned place in ur dvd player and play it at *2 speed .also check the discs your burning and make sure there spotless as this can f*** up an entire burn...........

It's a media/burner/player compatibility issue.
I don't know about Fuji +R, but you can try another brand, it's the easiest to change.
Try also to burn @ X1, it helps a lot, in many cases.
Check if your player is DVD+R compatible, on vcdhelp.colm for example.
Also verify your disk in other DVD players.

For what its worth - I had similar problems with an inexpensive brand of Media. The beginning of the disk would play fine but at some point - anywhere from the middle to the end - the image would freeze and lock up my player. What brand of media are you using?

Sorry - I wasn't paying attention. I see you gave the brand of media. So far I've had excellent luck with Fuji.
