It's first non beta since 0.28 (no serious bugs were found in the last couple of weeks, so lets call it stable release :) )

What's new in GK 0.28.5 (since 0.28)

- Added paths settings for all programs used by GK
- Added support for VDubMod 1.5.x.x (now works only with it)
- Encode window only shows codec selected on bitrate tab
- Added DTS support via azidts
- Added any DVD2AVI project support (works with 1.76, 1.77, 1.83)
- added command line interface which automatically openes
video, audio and other files:
/video"videofile"
/audio1"audiofile"
/audio2"audiofile"
/files"otherfile1;otherfile2"
- added support for non-english characters in video/audio file names
- when using XviD + b-frames new extended comp test is performed (as in Jonny's Enc)
- added manual "auto-split" subs feature to split them after you have several avi files.
- Bob deinterlace method is replaced by smart bob (DGBob)
- queue windows changed a bit + button for loading *.log files is added
- Internalization added (huge special thanks to tHegLouCh)
[skip languages & emails]
- tons of cosmetic changes and bugfixes

Please install full rip-pack of 0.28.5 as it contains a lot of new versions of tools which are required for GK to run.
Only if you have 0.28.3 or later you can use update installer.

Enjoy

P.S. next milestone is OGM & MKV support (finally)

Nice job.
I've just discovered GK, and I've ripped two movies with excellent results. I really LOVE this little program.

Keep up the good work!

Has it been reported that corona.dll is missing? I tried the upgrade from 0.28.4 beta.

No, it's not missing... Update doesn't have it indeed, assuming that full VDubMod was installed properly there before (it updates only three files in VDubMod dir...)

len0x:

I did a clean install of 0.28.3 then did the 0.28.4 beta update. When I tried to start VdubMod after applying the 0.28.5 update is when I got the corona.dll error.

I did a clean 0.28.5 install and all was fine.

well, then it was a problem of full 0.28.3 install...
(I don't have it now, so I can't check if it was there or not...)

Just wanted to post a thank-you for such an amazing program. I haven't been using gknot for too long.. only since 0.27, but I loved it from the beginning, and have turned a number of my friends onto the app and the doom9 site & forums. I know I haven't posted much; most of the questions I have had were always already answered on the forum somewhere. And to be perfectly honest, with all of the increadibly knowledgeable people posting here, not to mention the programmers themselves, I am a little too intimidated to actually make an attempt to answer any questions myself. I'm learning, though. ;)

Okay.. back to the topic.. This is the best version yet! All of the improvements are spectacular (I've just finnished my first 6-pass encode, which went way faster than expected!), and the aesthetic enhancements are nice too (hey look, XP buttons!). I could go on, but everyone already knows.

I know I gushing here, but it really amazes me that this is offered freely to anyone that wants it. Let's just leave it at a big thank-you to everyone involved!

It doesn't work with non-english characters in folder name. For example avi output path:
- f:\movies\jackal\ - all ok
- f:\movies\шакал\ - error

True, I actually tried to fix that, but only could do that for video path. Audio is being loaded via different charset mechanism and atm I can't figure out how to produce compatible filename...
(I'll be contacting VDubMod developers about that)

OK, I nailed the problem down. Should be fixed in patch 0.28.5.2
