OK, I have done some decrypting and have files on my HD; they run fine with WinDVD using "Play DVD from folder" or playing the VOB's in a play list.

For some reason, I cannot always burn the video_ts folder to a dvd. Am using RecordNow DX that came with my Sony DRX-500ULX; using the file mode during the scanning phase it opens the tray and says "terminated with errors". As I said this folder runs fine from the HD using WinDVD-menus work everything. Just can't seem to burn to a DVD( RW or R). This does not always happen; just some VIDEO_TS folders will not burn. (have done the obvious like all caps etc.; not missing files) Have had no problem using DVDXCOPY to do back ups but would like to use decrypter for more than making HD files to run. Have made IMG and ISO files using ImgTools and the resulting ISO burns but then the DVD will not play in my set top players (the DVDXCOP ones do and others that I have made off the Decrypter files work too.) I think my media is OK since many burns work great and the Record Now DX has been used to create all the successful discs. I don't know why some won't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

2nd Question-Generic IFO
Have been trying to read all the guides on altering VOBs and IFO's etc but I wonder if there is a generic IFO that can be used to just tell a set top player to run a series of VOB's. No fancy menus or anything, just to be able to play VOB's on a set top player like the play list in WinDVD. If this were possible, could then just burn the generic IFO and say 4 VOB's that are about 1GB each onto a DVD. Is there such a thing as this universal, generic IFO.

Please excuse me if my questions are showing my complete ignorance. I have been learning a lot reading the forums and guides but can't say I completely understand it well.

Thanks in advance for your patience and assistance.

Welcome to the forum. Nice to have u with us.
For some reason, I cannot always burn the video_ts folder to a dvd. Am using RecordNow DX that came with my Sony DRX-500ULX; using the file mode during the scanning phase it opens the tray and says "terminated with errors".If u r burning the structure as files from HD, u should open up the video_ts.vob in ifoedit and perform a 'Get VTS Sectors' function in order to correct any pointers that r not in place. Perform a search on 'Get VTS Sectors', u ll come up with some threads that deal with the subject and its uses in creating a compatible dvd.

As I said this folder runs fine from the HD using WinDVD-menus work everything. Just can't seem to burn to a DVD( RW or R). This does not always happen; just some VIDEO_TS folders will not burn.PCs r much more forgiving on the specs than standalone. A structure that is running smoothly on the PC is just an indicator that it might play likewise on a standalone. I missed one .bup file once from a backup. Burnt the image, tested on PC, it played fine. When I used in a my Philips it refused playing altogether. In my Affrey it played fine though.

I don't know why some won't work.My 1st answer, applies here also. Hint. use decrypter to rip dvds in iso mode and the deamon tools to mount the image in one of its virtual drives for any work that needs to be done for backup purposes. U may also rip to iso for dvds that r less than 4.3gb and decrypter to burn the image back to a dvd-r. U r achieving max compatibility this way.

U can't have a generic ifo to use wherever u need.
