I just got a new progressive scan Panasonic XP30. I have been using an Apex to watch authored dvds before. I just backed up Star Trek: Nemesis but the Panasonic won't play it. I tried an older Sony I have and it wont play it either. My Apex will play it though. So I think it must be how it was burned or authored. I have been using Nero 5.5.8.0 to burn always. Should I be using something else? If so, what? I did use Scenarist to author so I don't think the problem is there. I have also tried the same media with older backups on the Panasonic and they worked fine. Please help.

If you like Nero, I would upgrade to the latest version; it appears that they've worked some of the bugs out. I used to use nero and have read in many different forums that many people like Recordnow Max 4.5 which I hear is the same program as Prassi or Veritas Primodvd. I always use Recordnow Max 4.5 and haven't had any trouble. I would highly recommend it like everyone else, but you should be good w/ the latest nero. Try ripping the dvd to your hard drive and then re-recording it w/ the latest nero version. You can get the update at www.filemirrors.com or the nero website.
p.s. if you want more info on recordnow Max, do a search in this forum. There's a lot of good info.

I noticed something when it played it the Apex. The dvd went to Title 19, then Title 17 and played it. Maybe it looked for 19 first, and couldn't find it and moved on. Perhaps the Panasonic and Sony also looked for the Title 19 and couldn't find it but isn't able to move on. Could this be a reason that it stopped on the Panasonic and Sony?
Also, what about burning with dvd decryptor?
