I'm using TMpeg to merge two AVI files using the Mpeg Tools-> Merge & Cut option. However, for some reason this is giving me lipsync problems on my last few films. I'm not talking half a second or so, this is like 10-15 second out of between audio and video...

Anyone know what is causing this and how to correct it?

thnx

I've never had any luck using the Cut/Merge feature of TMPGenc...but I'm always working with MPEG2's. VirtualDub is a good AVI joiner. AVI_MPEG_RM_WMV Joiner by Boilsoft costs $20 on C/Net (you get a short trial) and does a superb job on MPEG2 (as does the freeware HJSplit). They should work well with AVI also.

:)

Thanks. I downloaded the trial version of AVI_MPEG_RM_WMV and it worked a treat. However, converting the file in TMPGenc to MPEG-2 so I can author it means it loses sync still!
Any alternative for this procuedure?

is the sync problem happening exactly at the join?

I think it starts at the join (tho not 100% certain on that) and get progressively worse toward the end of the main file...

have you loaded the 2nd half only in virtualdub and checked out the sync. if it is out of sync try making the audio and video the same length. i believe its under the video menu. i'm at work so i can't play with the program. it sounds like you have a streched audio and there are numerous guides how to fix it. sometimes if a fraction of a file is corrupt it will through the audio off. that is a pain to correct. depending on your bandwidth it might be easier to download the file again; if that was your source.

10-15 seconds is a lot of out-of-synch. Play the first file and see if it starts before the join (with that much synch it should...and if it is you'll know you have a synch problem...not a join problem.) If it pops out at the join then you need another joiner. VirtualDub will join and help sync an AVI file.
