What program to use with Xvid codec

I have always use DVD2SVCD to backup my DVD movies to SVCD.

I would like to learn to use Xvid to backup as I learn it can be compress to 1 Disc as AVI.

For a start, I used FlaskMpeg 0.7.8.39 as a program with Xvid as a codec to compress. What other alternative program can I use to compress?

Check out GKNot. It is a gui/scripting program for xvid/divx, VD-mod and a bunch of others. Gknot automates the process and makes it easier to use.

Thanks for the recommendation.

I just download Virtualdubmode...and i try to open the Vob files. However.. I can't chain the Vob file to get the whole movie open. Must I encode each VOB file separately? I'm sorry if I'm in the wrong Forum for this question. I look at the help file in Virtualdubmode but coudln't find any. Appreciate if someone can point me in the right direction. I know i must try trial and error to get it done..but a little advice to start off somewhere with Virtualdubmode or GKnot will be nice for a newbie! Thanks everyone :-)

VDub cant open Vobs!
You need a Frameserver like Avisynth!
But i think on doom9 you can find enough guides. Only for the xvid settings it is difficult to find a guide but i think you can find many threads about the best settings for your rip!

Been trying to read but one can get very confused sometime with so much reading material.

We all did that and finally managed to use the stuff. So you can do that as well, believe me, it's quite simple once you get the ideas behind the programs. -> therefore reading the guides over and over again is mandatory.

Sometimes I wish we had RealVNC for brains to simply remote control the users ;)
