Just wanted to know if anyone here knows if there is a way to replace the video in a PCG with either a custom video or still frame?
Basicly I want to use a program to process an episode DVD then manually replace some of the episodes with either video or a still image that says to "Insert disc 2" ect ect.
Anybody?

I donīt see problem in this replacement. You can use still frames or video (its up to you). You have to only reauthor the whole titleset. This is exactly the idea Trilight came for the first time - just replace unwanted extras with fake video/still frame to keep navigation structure same as original.

Maybe I missed something. How would this be accoplished exactly?
If by reauthor you mean load into DVD Maestro then thats just as much work as doing it from scratch.. if you mean something else I'd love to know how it would be done.

Then I have bad news for you :(. I guess that video in vob file is muxed as one long stream. So if you want to replace one part somewhere in this stream you have reauthor from scratch. As you want to do it on PGC level (not on titleset level) you have to do it through hard way. On titleset level it is easy but that is probably not what you want to do.

:( My heart just broke, ok thanks for the help. A no is better then no answer at all. I guess I figured if programs like Dvdshrink could encode different PGCs at different rates then just replacing the video would be easy.

It's an authoring question, more than a burning problem.
Please use the riht forum.
anyway, answer is to use Reauthorist (+DFI4U/DOCCE4U/Scenarist).
You just select which PGC you want, and dummy are put instead of not wanted one.
Also do the full generation of Scenarist script, calculate in real time bitrate according your choices, launch CCE encoding through docce4U etc.. etc;..

Sorry about posting in the wrong group. I assumed authoring was for authoring from scratch only.
Anyway that might work but that would reencode also correct? If so it sadly defeats the point but its a good tip for future use none the less. Right now I've started just disableing the button that loads the video in the unwanted PGC so thats working ok. But soemthing that says Please insert disc 2 would be nice also.

You can rip your video/audio/subtitle streams and then use them without any editing. But you have to reauthor from the scratch. This is usable only on easy-to-backup editions without seamless branching and other time consuming operations. But there is a need of reathoring.

Ok I've been doing a little bit more reading as I had only heard of DIF4U or any of the other programs before and had never seen them. Very nice, but maybe I'm missing something. I'd need dummy files, ok so does anyone know an easy way to make a custom dummy file? Or is it something specific to each disc?
Edit: or upon even further research can it be customized at all?

What does it mean custom dummy file for you??
You can download Trilightīs dummy files (video/audio). There are 5 second (or so) long still frame in different aspect ratios (4:3 and 16:9) and some dummy audio file in different bitrate (192, 386). You can use them instead of your original m2v or ac3 streams.

Customize audio dummy file is useless because it will be the same again :).
You couldnīt custom the content of the still frame (only lasting or aspect ratio). If you want another text in your still frame you have to make your own.
Sorry for late response, but I didnīt get any notification more than a week .
