Heya there !
I'm Using Vdub with Divx 5.05 Pro using Original 2 passes method. Not my first rip, but first one with OGG (is it really worth it? I heard people saying it was as good as mp3 but you didnt need to have high bitrate...)
So I select Audio->Direct Stream copy
WAV Audio->Select OGG
I do my 1st pass, then 2nd pass ... sharp image ! But no sound... how can I encode using OGG and Vdub? AVI Audio doesnt let you pick any track ...
Please help!
Thanks

You will need virtualdubmod to mux the ogg into ogm or matroska you can mux it into avi but it is a very very bad idea since avi only supports cbr audio. Get virtualdubmod here, http://virtualdubmod.sourceforge.net/ you have to encode the audio first in another program other than vdubmod and then mux it in later. I recommend you use besweet and the besweetgui located in the download section of this site to encode the audio. You will also need some directshow filters to playback the audio later, if you use ogm then get tobias' filters, probably if you use matroska then use their filter. Is ogg audio worth it? Well, you better decide that for yourself certainly you will be able to use lower bitrates than mp3 and still have acceptable quality.

I just tried using Virtualdubmod 1.5 ... it says it won't mux.
My OGG was obtained using the AC3->OGG guide. I did not doo anything else...
So it's
AC3->OGG then OGG->OGM using Besweet?

@TigerLord-- It's tempting to reach out for all the help you can get, but cross posting will have the opposite effect.
@BoNz1-- Should he check to see if his "Preferred output format" is set to Integer 16-bit?

Open up virtualdubmod and go to file > open video file and open your video without the sound. Then go to Streams > Stream list and then click add and open the ogg file, then click video > direct stream copy and go to file > save as. Then choose to save it as matroska or ogm and in a couple minutes you will have a video with sound. Make sure you have the appropiate directshow like I said before.
@ ammck55, I'm not sure exactly what you mean. Umm the only thing that I can think of is in virtualdubmod under preferences > main and output colour depth which should be set to 16, yes. Not sure if this is what you mean or not.

Ok but if I have Video -> direct stream copy I can't use compressors...
See, I'm trying to make a 350MB Rip of an SG-1 Episodes. I looked at one of SFM's rip and they use 48KHz/MP3 @ 194 kb/s AVG when my MP3 is 128 41KHz ...
Edit: N/M I found out about the .ogm part... can I still compress the .ogm in divx5 file ??
Last question: Should I reencode the ac3 and resample it to 48000 ??

hi
sorry but in my eyes you should get some very basic reading done!
best to start @doom9.org and here in the forum. if you use it correctly and are willing to spend some time this forum turns into a single huge pot of knownledge.
"can I still compress the .ogm in divx5 file ??"
i have no idea what you mean! ogm is a container... you cannot compress it. if you want to recompress the content or parts of it (video or audio), you can do that with virtualdubmod!
"Should I reencode the ac3 and resample it to 48000 ??"
no not necessary... once you got it @ 41000 it's better to leave it there... at least that's my opinion :D
quoting ammck55: "It's tempting to reach out for all the help you can get, but cross posting will have the opposite effect."
You know, what he meant is, that it often appears that just going to the forum and asking for help is much easier. unfortunately people that do so frequently upset more experienced members by simply asking a question (or two or three) that have been answered hundreds of times. Point is, to keep the more experienced members coming here and answering questions you might not be able to answer with the guides and the forum, you have to bite the sour apple and do your homework befor posting! ;)
