View Full Version : Getting mp3 onto dvd (somehow)?

I encoded an AC3 file using BeSweet to a 48kbps mp3 - this is just the director's commentary, so such a low bitrate is exactly what I need to save space. However, I'm having a real problem figuring out what I need to do to reauthor this back onto a DVD. As far as I know, scenarist will not accept mp3. And BeSweet does not seem to be able to convert mp3 files back to ac3 (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=55962) - just outputs dead silence.

Is there anything I can do? Is there any other program besides BeSweet that (claims) to encode to ac3? Finally, would it get me anywhere to use mp2 instead of mp3? Thank you!

Convert your 48kbps mp3 to a 48KHz wav file first. You may make it fake stereo to get Dolby 2.0 later.

MP2 is definitely an option if you're encoding a PAL DVD, all PAL DVD players support MP2.
On NTSC DVDs, it can be used and will be playable on all DVD players with VCD capability (= most DVD players)

Thanks, I'll give that a try!
