1pass & compressability data base

can anyone design a feture, say to gordian knot where if you do a compression test or a first pass for given settings, you can send that info to a data base online. Or if there is info on a first pass or compression test for given settings, you can access them instead of going through the processing time of doing what someone else has already done? I think this idea would cut encode times down by over half.

Since everybody uses different settings (different resizers, different denoisers,different cropping,...) you would have a HUGE database which someone should be willing to host. Not to mention that you have different transfers of the same movie (PAL, NTSC).

This is a nice (and very old) idea, but doesn't work, sorry.

perhaps it can work on a p2p basis, where you enter your settings that you want to use and if somone comes online that had used the same settings in the past, you can download the info from them directly. It would work like a kazza intergration. or perhaps look at what settings they did use for a movie and do it the same way as them, if your willing to do so for the sake of saving time

Honestly I think so few people would actually use such a thing, that you would NEVER find someone else using the same settings as you do for any specific movie.
