Hi, i've been encountering trouble with the use of xvid custom matrices with GK

As soons as i start a job using another matrix than H.263 or Mpeg, VDM start then crash, then restart and display Video compressions error : An unknown error has occured ( may be corrupt data). (error code -100)

I've tried to store the matrices in my defaut settings but that didn't help

Here is the GK log file :

I have latest GK + Latest VDM ( CVS pre-release ) + Latest Koepi's build
+ avisynth 2.52 on a Win XP Pro SP1 sytem with XP2000/768DDR

Does someone has the same problems ? Have you got any clue ? solutions ?

As usual, sorry for my poor english

I don't know what's causing it, but I can tell you that sometimes the same thing happens with me. A while ago I ran a long series of tests with custom matrices, and VDubMod errored out every once in a while at random when those tests were in a jobque. Simply re-starting the joblist made it run perfectly for a couple of tests more until it choked on some other test further down the line. As far as I could see the only thing all those tests had in common was that they used a custom matrix (and all the same matrix as well). Whether the error is in XviD or VDubMod I don't know, but it's definately not in GKnot.

I don't remember having this problem when setting a joblist directly in VDubMod but i didn't do it so often

I usually use jonny's great tool Enc since he released it, and i never faced this problem ( both with VdubMod and avs2avi ), and i often use the hvs matrices or bullet proof's high quality matrix.

So i was thinking something was wrong with what GK send to VdubMod

Hello,

I also have problem with custom matrix in GK 0.28.5:

In the option tab, i configure xvid with custom matrices (i choose mpeg custom and i load my custom matrix, for each pass)
when i run the comp check, i check the xvid options, and the custom matrix is correctly defined. The comp. check runs perfectly.
when i start the encode, vdm crashes and gives me the following error :

An integer division by zero occurred in module 'xvid'...
...while compressing frame 0 from 04a40000 to 051b0020 (VideoSequenceCompressor.cpp:373)...
...while running thread "Processing" (thread.cpp:90).

while GK gives me the following error:

09:12:48: Started Xvid - First Pass: D:\RIP\Godin\Godin.avs
09:13:31: *************************************
09:13:31: EXCEPTION: Cannot create file "C:\PROGRA~1\RIP\GORDIA~1\VirtualDubMod\LastJob.vcf". Le processus ne peut pas accéder au fichier car ce fichier est utilisé par un autre processus (translation : the file is locked by another process)
09:13:31: EXCEPTION: Encoder Thread Terminated.
09:13:31: *************************************

the file is not locked (i can delete it just before launching the encode. There is no other vdm process running.
I mention that i have succeeded in using custom matrices with vdm only. So i agree with Garfield.

someone has an idea ?

I get the same crash using custom matrices also. I also believe most people use virtualdubmod as a standalone and most people report that it works that way, but when using it as part of gknot, it crashes. It only crashes when i try to load in a custom matrix. When i use mpeg or h.263 quant type, gknot works fine with virtualdubmod. I would venture that something is not working with the way gknot calls vdubmod in those instances when custom matrixes are loaded in. Any ideas anyone?

Oki, I have these nasty crashes as well now (i'malso bringing this up in the XviD forum). So I need some help on why this could be happening. Custom matrixes are stored properly in the registry (I can see that). But crashed definitely occurs when when loading them...
