Hi there
I have a problem with my Sony 500AX burner and DVDMaestro and I am hoping that someone can help. In short DVDMaestro is not recognising the drive as a burner.
I did a reinstalation of Windows XP as part of a tidy up exercise and since then the Output destination / Destination Drive line is dimmed and showing none available.
The peculiar thing is that the Sony supplied software appears to be working fine, and DVDMaestro can see the drive it just does not recognise it as a burner.
Any hints would be gratefully received.
Thanks

Is there really need of burning with DVD Maestro? There are in my opinion better burning programs than Maestro... Last version of Maestro was released long time ago as the company was bought by Apple. Maybe its the same issue like new burners and version of Nero...

DVDMaestro will burn a lot better than nero, which is good ;)
but even the latest (read: last) version of DVDMaestro doesnt support the latest drives (it supports my DVR-S201 and DLT8000, so im not complaining), but you can get it to export an image for dvddec to write.
btw, DVD Studio Pro 2.0 (read: DVDMaestro 3.x remade for OS X) will support all current (and future with updates) DVD Burners.

Thanks guys. You may well be correct however the odd thing is it was working fine until I reinstalled Windows XP.
Just one of those things I guess. I have started using DVD Decrypter instead.

That is very intersting info.
Maestro is not supposed to recogize an atapi drive as destination to burn to. I never could make it recognize my Teac as a burner, even though it did with an Yamaha 4416 SCSI cdr I ahd a little while ago.
Did u have installed a utility that allowed this? A utility that wasn't installed after XP re-installation? Perhaps what I am looking for is part of a software package that made it possible.
Can u recall anything? It sure would be great to fool Maestro in to burning on new atapi drives.

There is nothing that I can recall installing specifically, although the old XP installation had been there for some time so it is quite possible that this happened accidentally. I will experiment a little and if I can recreate this ability I will let you know.
